"Zero Energy Experimental Pile: Will the Future Rulers of the Earth Come from the Ranks of Insects?"
Eduardo Paolozzi's print of 1969-70 provides the springboard for my exploration of the wearability of aluminium. Shapes from the print feed an exploration of the nature of collage, and, therfore, a greater understanding of Paolozzi's process. I extend the collaging process of cutting, and folding out into the metalworking side of the project. Intended to be admired as Art Objects or worn for performance, they examine a different use for metal and perceptions of genres - sculpture, jewellery, fashion. Z.E.E.P. provides my first experiments with industrial finishes (powder coating).
